I found this downhill part so much harder on the old legs. It looks quite a gentle slope from this angle but believe me, it is not! For some reason the force of gravity was not only much more powerful here than anywhere else, but it was also cunning and devious, constantly nagging my legs to just relax into a run down the hill and see what speed I could get up to before I disintegrated into a heap in the middle of someone’s sand castle.

It was only the dog’s insistence that we check out every single rabbit hole that prevented me from reaching a new land speed record.
